Now, an Irish inventor living in New Jersey, has developed a system of rotary valves. George Coates says his technology replaces the camshaft, valves, rocker arms and approximately 300GLOBE VALVE other moving parts in conventional heads with two spherical valve assemblies. Advantages to rotary valves include improved fuel PLUG VALVES economy as less power is required to feed the engine. Fewer parts translate into reduced friction. Maintenance is virtually unnecessary. The system cleans itself and is not prone to getting out of adjustment. An added bonus is an almost total absence of mechanical clatter. By presenting a polished surface to the heat of combustion, rotary valves operate at significantly lower and more uniform temperatures.
